Holy, Holy, Holy! I was out of town on Trinity Sunday so I’m glad for another appropriate week to use it.
Elizabeth’s Choice:
Dan Miller’s arrangement pretty much slaps. It has an intro, modulation, and reharm in Eflat. And it’s free! I’ll be playing the last page down the octave since my organ is screeching in this heat.
Other Options:
Rawthorne’s reharmonization in D major is a lovely option if you’re wanting to avoid modulations. You could pair the Dan Miller introduction with the Rawthorne reharm.
William McNair’s introduction could also be used as an interlude.
Edmund Shay’s reharmonization is nice! $5 on Morningstar.
William McNair’s reharmonization is another good option if you’re into some chromaticism.
Callahan’s “The Art of Hymn Playing” has three settings – an introduction (could be an interlude) and two reharmonizations – one with the melody in the soprano and one in the tenor. Volume 1 is $39 and well worth it for the breadth of content – PDF available too!
